Kristyna Myles during the soundcheck at Liverpool Arena

Since winning Busker of the Year in 2005, Kristyna Myles has been pretty darn busy. Recording and touring Europe with Chris de Burgh, gigging in and around her adopted home of Manchester as well as writing and recording her debut album, have made sure her steady rise has been assured and steady enough to attract the attention of those in the know.

Kristyna and Ben with Mick HucknallSupporting Mick Hucknall on his Tribute To Bobby tour is further testament to Kristyna’s undoubted talent and here, if anything, she came ever so close to outshining the man himself, delivering a tight set of songs, accompanied beautifully by Ben Williams on the acoustic guitar, that held her audience spellbound and had queues forming at the merchandise stand during the interval to purchase personally signed copies of her EP.

Kicking off with Put Your Arms Around Me, it is clear that Kristyna’s voice is built for the stage and the warm reception she received at the song’s end only intensified as she went on to rattle off Sorrow, Setback, Uninvited and If I Wanna Wear Black with equal style and understated grace.

This was a truly sensational – if all too short – a performance that bodes nothing but well for the young artist’s future as a true star of great music performed superbly well.
