WHITE SKIN MAN written by JOHN BAKER |

The true art of storytelling comes through being able to paint a picture
of words that doesn't overburden the canvas of the page. In White
Skin Man, author John Baker demonstrates
impeccably that he has mastered this art with few being his equal. Katy Madika likes taking photographs and has a new camera. Whilst testing the equipment out, she takes random shots of a hook-nosed man taking tea in a café; a man who she later witnesses being murdered. When the killer spots her, he takes the camera from Katy but is unaware that she has stowed the Flash Card safely away and Katy turns to her old friend, Eve, for advice. Eve's employee is Stone Lewis - a troubled and recently released prisoner - and it is he who recognises that, despite the lack of a body, what Katy says she saw is true. That Katy, a white woman married to an African, is in danger is beyond doubt and Stone is forced to grapple with a darker side life he thought he'd left behind the walls of the prison. |

An absorbing and compelling read that
fluctuates between a murder hunt and the filthy ideology of racism with
delicate ease, this is attributable to Baker's innate ability to carefully
select and utilise each word with an exactitude that is awe inspiring
and never once allows the pace of the novel to dissipate. The characters are all too real and
the storyline all too credible, which helps to bring real tension to
the story's telling. The pages tumble over as each new dilemma is faced
and solved, until the final crashing climax leaves the reader breathless. A great
site, fulfilling a need for many people. Good luck with it. And thank
you for the review of White Skin Man. I'm really glad you liked it.
