SANDI THOM - Smile … It Confuses People |
|||||
| Viking
Legacy Quite simply, those reviewers who have discredited Smile … It Confuses People, the debut album from Sandi Thom, do not know what they are talking about. As sparkling, as original, as melodic and as catchy as they come, all ten tracks here are worthy of being listened to ahead of anything else available on the market. |
SANDI THOM: CD REVIEW |

|
From the opening track, When Horsepower
Meant Something, to the closing ballad of Time, there
is very definitely something for everybody who loves great music. However
what is most striking is the happiness with which each and every track
is performed. There is an underlying joy here that is so often alien
in the modern world of celebrity that is both uplifting and refreshingly
honest. I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With
Flowers In My Hair) may well have catapulted the Scot to recognition
almost over night, but there nine other gems here too. Not least of
which are What If I’m Right with its self-effacing lyrics
worthy of Alanis Morissette, and The Human Jukebox , which
hints at fame being more than just a fifteen minute jaunt, taking pride
of place. Smile … It Confuses
People is a credit to everybody concerned and should be
lauded for the fact Sandi Thom has had the bottle to break the rules
and gone out and got what she really wanted.
