DAVID GILMOUR - On An Island |

Beautifully layered and packed with
surprises, it is Take A Breath, The Blue,
Red Sky At Night and Where We Start that
take the honours in a quadruplet of awe-inspiring perfection that shatters
then brings together, the musical soul as one. Which is not to say that
the remaining six tracks are slouches in any way whatsoever. Far from
it, as Then I Close My Eyes testifies. This is an album that is intensely uplifting
in a world that is so often littered with schmatltzy dross - James Blunt,
please take note - and should be on the very top of everybody's shopping
list the next time they head off to ASDA for a loaf. |
