Given that the maxim by which most authors work is "Write What You Know", it may be expected that one of Simon Kernick's characters may, in future, be clubbed to death with an uprooted Christmas Tree.

The (un-) enviable occupation of Christmas Tree Uprooter is just one of the many that Simon held before coming back to what he loves most, writing.

His first published novel, "The Business Of Dying", was greeted with much critical acclaim in 2002, with The Independent calling it "The Crime debut of the year," and The Guardian regarding it as "A gem of a book".

"The Murder Exchange", Simon's second novel published during June, 2003, was dubbed by The Sydney Morning Herald as "A superior, even original, crime thriller," and proves that he is no one-hit-wonder.

Simon has written two further books; "The Crime Trade" (2004) and "A Good Day To Die" (2005) with another in the pipeline and are all published by Books At Transworld.

Simon lives in Oxfordshire with his wife and two daughters.
