'Dancing' by Paul Kelly print version

She saw everything in life
as a sequence of dances.
Rays of sunlight skipping
down from the heavens.
Stomping workmen swinging
pickaxes on grimy pavements.
Spiteful waves buffeting
sea walls in strict tempo.
Her every waking moment,
seemed geared to the rhythm
and movement of the dance.
Nothing was spared.
Especially her lovers.
As I quickly discovered when
she waltzed off to Brighton,
with my 'best friend' and my credit cards.
