This is a short story competition that's free and easy to enter - just email your story to us by 30th November 2007 (max size 2X sides of a .rtf document) and you could be our winner of competition number 8.

This tri-monthly short story competition is open to all age groups. The stories themselves should be based around the theme of the month - the theme for the Aug/Sept/Oct/Nov 07 short story competition is 'POWER'.

Although this free to enter short story competition is open to anyone woldwide, all entries must be submitted in English as a MS Word Document. Please note that we are only able to post the prize (Linghams book of the month) to the UK mainland. Should an entrant from outside the UK win, then the prize will only be publication on www.chrishigh.com

The closing date for this short story competition number 8 is 31st Oct 2007 and the winner will be announced approx 8th December 2007 on this site.

Please ensure you follow the short story competition rules in full; we can only accept entries that adhere to the rules.

SHORT STORY COMPETITION RULES

Work should be set out as follows: In Microsoft word, click on “Format” in your page toolbar and select “Paragraph”. In “Indentation” click on “Special” and change “None” to “First Line Only”. In the box next to this, change the indentation to “0.7” Then go to “Spacing” and select “Double”. Then click “Okay” at the bottom of the instruction box.

  • Entries MUST NOT exceed 2 Word Document Pages in length and written in English.
  • ANY ENTRIES EXCEEDING THIS MAXIMUM LENGTH OR COMPLYING TO THE SET FORMATTING WILL NOT BE ENTERED.
  • Only 1 entry per person, per month.
  • Stories CANNOT be returned.
  • All stories MUST have a story based on the Word Of The Month.
    You MUST include your name postal address and email address at the top of your story
  • Stories will be judged tri-monthly.
  • Stories should be as free of expletives as possible.
  • Submission by Email attachment only.
  • No correspondence will be entered in to.
  • The Judges decision is final. The Prize is non-exchangeable.
  • Winners will be notified by Email.
  • The winning entry will be posted on www.chrishigh.com
  • By entering the competition you agreeing to these rules.
